You have been there since 1879

Why did you have to pine?

I stood in your shade

When I started first grade

You stood guard at our school

So we could learn the rule

The children of Hinterstoder planted you to honor the Kaiser

Watching you all the years has made us wiser

When you were cut down

My face turned to a frown

And a tear flowed from my eye

To say goodbye

I didn’t know that a Linden Tree

Could be so dear to me.
